We offer 7 levels of English Language Learning classes -- from levels 0 and 1 for learners with little or no schooling in their first language, to level 6 for students who are refining their English skills by working on resume and interviewing skills. Levels 2-5 cover everything in between.

English Language Learning classes give learners the skills they need to communicate and work in our community. Students progress at their own pace from one level to the next. Each level offers more detailed English instruction than the last. All levels focus on practical communication skills.

ELL classes are offered at the Lehmann Center and the Northside Adult Literacy Program, as well as at several partnership sites throughout Minneapolis. Classes are offered in the evening as well as during the day.

Minneapolis Adult Basic Education received a special grant this year to develop a new class emphasizing English language and Civics instruction.

The grant funds three separate classes at various locations and times. This is an exciting, new opportunity for ELL students at the Northside, Lehmann Evening and Cedar Riverside sites.
