Youth Programs

Minneapolis Kids

Minneapolis Kids provides school age care before and after school, on non-school days, and during the summer and full-day pre-K care. Our programs operate out of MPS elementary schools throughout the city with transportation available to/from homeschools that do not have a Minneapolis Kid program onsite. Financial assistance through county and community resources may be available to qualifying families.

Youth Programs

Now more than ever we recognize the importance of supporting students’ social and emotional development. Community Education Youth Programs deliver a wide range of high-quality enrichment learning opportunities during out of school time (afterschool, release days, and summer). Community Education offerings support youth to develop strong peer relationships and foster new skills, through our intentional program design that fosters cultural identity, youth voice and leadership.

  • Our programs serve youth in grades K-12 at Minneapolis Public School locations across the city as well as online to ensure all students have access to high quality programs.
  • For more information about specific school program offerings, visit your school website or contact your Community Education Coordinator.

Community Partnerships

Minneapolis is full of great organizations that work for the betterment of our community and we love building those connections. Our partners increase Community Education’s ability to bring exceptional programming to our participants and strengthen the overall community.

Each year, we partner with over 80 local businesses and nonprofits to provide high quality experiences and leverage our resources to provide more for the community of Minneapolis. If you would like to join us in building community then contact

Our swimming program offers lessons for all ages from four and up! Each session consists of one thirty minute lesson per week. Our class ratio is 4:1. We partner with the USA Swimming Foundation Make A Splash Initiative. The USA Swimming Foundation's Make a Splash initiative is a national child-focused water safety campaign, which aims to provide the opportunity for every child in America to learn to swim.
